Every once in awhile, I take a break from shooting weddings and families and get to do something completely off the beaten path. It's creatively refreshing and playing with pure portraiture is so much fun. This time it was photographing my friend Marian McLaughlin, folk singer-songwriter in Baltimore. She has a hauntingly beautiful voice and her lyrics touch on the environment, what it means to be a woman, a human, a living being, in this time and place.
